Working remotely with a company can be tricky in that many companies do not officially allow you to work outside of a certain area, whether that's a country, specific state, etc. Even if they are 100% remote, they may not officially allow you to work anywhere else, but this can often be understood as saying so for tax reasons, and depending on the company, they may not actually care (although they officially do). VPN software can be a solution, but if you are using a company-issued computer or if they have software installed on your computer, this may not be sufficient. Often, you will need to connect your computer to the Internet first before the VPN software kicks in, and theoretically your company can see this behavior. If they do not want to know about you being somewhere else, or if they're actively trying to prove that you are somewhere else, this can be bad. A better solution is to make sure your home IP address is shown before your computer is connected to the Internet.
