The US market for mobile phone service is 96% dominated by the "top 3"^[As of December 2024]:
- Verizon Wireless at 36.8%
- T-Mobile at 35%
- AT&T at 32.8%
The remaining 4% is fairly fractured and many of them operate as Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs)^[Such as Google Fi, which uses T-Mobile's infrastructure but operates as its own network]. Many other are owned by one of the big 3 but for many purposes act as their own business.
